Description

Daughters of the King – from the Album “Bigger Than Me,” is a great song for Women’s Ministry events. It has an 80’s “Roxette” (think “It Must Have Been Love” only happier) drum and piano feel, with a lead Soprano vocal. This production is trim with piano, bass, drum and just a little synth popping in on the verses. The harmonies build to the end chorus and are very pretty, resembling a ladies trio. Even with the 80’s vibe the song inspired by biblical scriptures about Daughters of the King and the Proverbs 31 woman is timeless.

Lyrics

Verse 1
We are wives, even mothers
We are sisters and friends
We share our love, had our heartaches
But together we can stand
See we have our own inheritance
Our Father has prepared
We must wait just a little while and
He will take us there

Chorus
Shout O daughters of Zion, Sing in the morning sun
Wear clothes of strength and dignity
And laugh at the days to come
Don’t you know we are all glorious – glorious because of Him
So arise my sisters and go forth,
We’re daughters of the King

Verse 2
We’re gonna run and not grow weary,
Gonna walk and not grow faint
We’re gonna speak and not be silent
We are gonna dream and we will think
Will you build me up and I’ll encourage you
I can use my love to understand and
Help you make it through

Repeat Chorus x2

Outro
(We are the Daughter’s) We’re Daughter’s of the King
(We are the Daughter’s) We Are the Daughter’s of Our King

Backstory

Daughters of the King | Story Behind Song

In June of 2008, the Lord gave me this song when I was invited to speak and sing at the 2nd Annual “Daughters of the King” banquet, for the Women’s Ministry, at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene in Oregon, Ohio. To sum it up, as I began praying and researching scriptures in the Bible to prepare for the event, the Lord showed me in many verses two key themes. First of all we are sisters. At the same time we are His daughters. From there the song “Daughters of the King” was born using scriptures God led me to read.  In this situation, I did not originally plan on writing a song. Consequently, when I searched for a closing song to share with these precious ladies, I could not find the right one. As a result, I became frustrated. Notably it (was my Mother who suggested I write a song.

Stop the Madness

Clearly women (myself included) can be mean spirited, gossipers, petty and competitive. Given these points, (yes, I went there) God’s word is clear about this subject. To illustrate what the Lord reinforced in my preparation time, we must understand that first, we are His daughters. Second we have a relationship with our father AND a relationship with each other. Third, we have an unbelievable inheritance! God makes us “glorious because of Him” (Proverbs 31:25). So let’s stop tearing each other down. Furthermore, let’s build one another up! Because we all need encouragement. As sisters let’s join together to help one another “laugh at the days to come.” Considering this, let us claim our inheritance and join with our sisters in doing so. Moreover, as believers in Christ Jesus, we are the Daughters of the King! In short, that is the message of this song. Without reservation I share with you “…arise my sisters and go forth – we are daughters of the King.”

Who Are the Daughters of the King

    • “Daughters of kings are among your honored women…” Psalm 45:9
    • “Sing, Daughter Zion; shout aloud, Israel! Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem!” Zephaniah 3:14
    • “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:16-17).
    • ” ‘Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,’declares the Lord.” Zechariah 2:10.
